We stayed on a houseboat!

We booked the Paolyn Houseboat thru AirBnb and it was such a great unique experience! Paolyn Houseboat is located on the beautiful islands of Coron, Philippines. How many people can say they’ve stayed in an eco-friendly houseboat in the middle of beautiful crystal waters?

Outside our suite! We booked Suite2Bamboo and it was just perfect!

It was about a 20 minute boat ride from Coron Town to the houseboat. They offer transport to and from the airport (USU-Francisco B. Reyes, Busuanga, Airport) from Coron Town, which takes around 45 mins.

The houseboat is made of 2 main boats. The main one, called Paolyn, which has a small restaurant on the first floor, a few small rooms on the 2nd floor, and an observation deck at the 3rd level. There’s also the Bamboo houseboat, which is composed of 4 suites.

When we arrived Paolo, the owner from Italy, met with us and answered any questions we had and gave us tour options for the surrounding area. You have the option to pick and chose your own excursion itinerary, or pick from the ones they have! 🏝

While there, we ordered our breakfast for the next morning and what time we would like it to be served and where, on the main houseboat or on our lil lounge area by our suite. We also ordered our dinner and what time we would like that to be served as well. They had great options for all their meals! The giant garlic shrimp was delicious, so was the fish in a coconut curry sauce, and amazing spring rolls! They also have veggie options for any vegetarians. While staying at the houseboat we fell in love with the banana shakes, no joke we ordered like 20 while we were there. 🍌

This was maybe round 3 of the banana shakes

Everything at the houseboat is eco-friendly! 👍🏼The straws are metal, reusable cups, they’re very insistent on using sunscreen (which you can buy there) that is environment friendly, harmless to the beautiful waters and corals that surround the area. They also provide shampoo/conditioner/body wash that’s harmless to the surroundings. 👏🏼

They have wifi…but it’s difficult to get a signal! Best time to connect was around 2 or 3am when everyone was asleep! If you try any other time, good luck! Also when we went on excursions and closer to the main island, we could pick up a signal while still out on the water.

Let’s talk about the toilet…yes, the toilet 🚽 So NO PAPER can go into the tiny toilet, and you must turn the knob one way to flush everything down, and then flush the opposite way to get water back into the toilet. BEWARE! You may see your bits come back into the toilet when you do this 🤢 which is gross, but just keep repeating this process to get everything down.

There’s a small walky talky in your room to call the main houseboat. We ordered so many banana shakes, at one point we needed an extra oar for our paddle boat, a hot kettle of tea. You can even request to have your meal at your outside lounge area and they’ll bring it over from the main houseboat. The staff is available 24 hours a day! So it was a nice comfort knowing if we needed anything, they were there willing to help out!

Quick tour of our suite!

Suite perks 🙏🏼

  • Sleeps up to 6 people, with mosquito net cover for the bed.
  • Private bathrom/shower.
  • Cute dining/lounge area right outside your door.
  • Walky talky to communicate with the main houseboat if you want to order room service or need anything.
  • Paddle boards and kayaks for everyone in your party.

If you don’t stay here when visiting Coron, you’re making a big mistake! We were so incredibly close to everything! It’s like we were on a VIP tour in a our private boat. Everyone at Paolyn Houseboat were so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely book with them again!
